Google Ads is the fastest way to get enquiries in Arrah, and the easiest way to waste money. Both statements are true, and which one applies to you depends almost entirely on decisions made before the first rupee is spent.
This guide covers what actually goes into running ads for a local business here — what they cost, when they are the wrong choice, and how to judge whoever is running them for you.
When Google Ads is the right answer
Ads work best when somebody needs your service now and is actively searching for it. A blocked drain, a toothache, an AC that stopped in May, a lab test the doctor asked for today. High intent, immediate decision, and whoever appears first usually gets the call.
They work less well for slow decisions. A family choosing a coaching institute for their child takes weeks, asks relatives, and visits two or three places. A search ad rarely closes that on its own — though it does get you onto the shortlist.
And they are the wrong first step entirely if your Google Business Profile is half empty. Paying for clicks while your free listing sits incomplete is spending money to skip a step that costs nothing.
The campaign types worth running locally
Search campaigns are where most local businesses in Arrah should start. Text ads shown to people typing exactly what you sell. Highest intent, highest cost per click, closest to a customer walking through the door.
Call-only campaigns make the ad itself a phone number. One tap and your phone rings, with no website visit in between. Excellent for clinics, repair services and anything urgent — and it removes the need for a good landing page.
Performance Max spreads your ads across Search, Maps, YouTube and Gmail automatically. Powerful once conversion tracking is proven, and a money pit before that, because the system optimises towards whatever you told it to count.
Remarketing reaches people who visited your site and did not enquire. Cheap clicks from people who already know who you are. Worth it for considered purchases.
The six ways budgets leak
Almost every underperforming account we audit has at least three of these:
- Broad match everywhere. Your ad shows for searches you would never pay for, and you find out when the budget is gone.
- No negative keywords. Clicks from people typing “free”, “jobs”, “salary”, “training” — none of whom will ever buy.
- No conversion tracking. Without it Google optimises for clicks instead of enquiries. Most inherited accounts have this wrong.
- Traffic sent to the homepage. Someone searches for one specific service and lands on a page about everything. They leave.
- Calls not counted. Most local enquiries come by phone. If calls are untracked, a working campaign looks like a failure on paper.
- Set and forgotten. Launched once, never touched. Competition and costs move monthly; the account does not.
Tracking comes before spending
This is the single dividing line between accounts that improve and accounts that just consume budget.
Before any campaign goes live, conversion tracking needs to be installed and verified — form submissions, phone calls, WhatsApp clicks. Google learns from those signals. Without them it optimises for the only thing it can see, which is clicks, and clicks are not customers.
We have taken over accounts with eight months of spend where nobody could say which keyword produced a single phone call. That data cannot be recovered afterwards.
What it costs in Arrah
There are always two separate numbers, and any quote that blurs them deserves a question.
Ad budget buys the clicks. It goes from your card directly to Google, never through an agency, and you can see every rupee inside your own account. As a working floor, start from around ₹5,000 a month. Below that Google cannot gather enough data to improve, and the money leaks without producing a steady stream of enquiries.
Management fee pays for the work — audit, keyword research, tracking, ad copy, weekly optimisation, reporting. We charge a fixed monthly amount rather than a percentage of spend, so there is no incentive to push your budget up. Our pricing page shows both separately.
Costs per click in Arrah are far lower than in Patna or a metro, which is the real advantage of advertising in a smaller market. The same budget buys considerably more here.
Who should own the account
You. Always.
Your Google Ads account should be created in your name with your billing attached. An agency works inside it as a manager. If you part ways, you keep the account, the campaign history, the audience data and the conversion learning.
Some agencies run client ads from their own account. It sounds like a convenience. What it means is that on the day you leave, years of accumulated learning stay with them and you start from zero. Ask before signing: whose name is the ad account in? Anything other than yours is a problem, not a detail.
About those calls from Google
Once you are spending, Google’s own team will call offering to optimise your account. Those representatives are paid on how much you spend, not on what you earn. Their standard advice is broad match and a bigger budget — which is exactly how accounts start leaking.
Take the call if you want. Do not apply the changes without checking them against your own numbers.
How to judge whether it is working
Ignore impressions and clicks. One number decides everything: what did one enquiry cost me?
Total spend divided by genuine enquiries — counting what your team actually received, not what the dashboard claims. Then compare that against what a customer is worth to you over the whole relationship. If a customer brings ₹8,000 of profit and an enquiry costs ₹300 with one in four converting, you are paying ₹1,200 per customer. That is a good trade, and the answer is to spend more.
Without knowing what a customer is worth, no advertising number can be judged.
Frequently asked questions
How much should I spend on Google Ads in Arrah?
From around ₹5,000 a month in ad spend for a single service in a smaller market. Competitive categories need more. Management is quoted separately based on how many campaigns and services are involved.
How soon will I get enquiries?
Usually within the first week, because ads reach people who are already searching. The first month is about learning which keywords convert; cost per lead typically drops noticeably in month two and three as the waste gets cut.
Do I need a website to run Google Ads?
For most campaign types, yes, and it must load fast on mobile. Call-only campaigns are the exception, since the ad dials your number directly. If your site is weak, a single focused landing page usually beats rebuilding everything.
Can you take over my existing account?
Yes, and it is common. We audit before changing anything, so whatever is already working stays. Keeping the account history matters — a fresh account throws away everything Google has learned about your customers.
Are Google Ads better than SEO?
They answer different questions. Ads stop the day you stop paying; local SEO keeps working but takes 60 to 90 days to move. Most businesses run ads for enquiries this month while the organic presence builds underneath.
What if my budget is smaller than ₹5,000?
Put it into your Google Business Profile and local SEO instead. Below that floor ads cannot gather enough data to improve, and you will get more from the free listing than from a starved campaign.
Where to start
If you are already running ads, open the search terms report and read what people actually typed before clicking. Most owners find at least a quarter of their spend going to searches they would never have paid for.
If you have not started yet, complete your Google Business Profile first. It costs nothing and often removes the need to advertise as heavily.
When you are ready, our Google Ads service covers the audit, tracking, campaigns and weekly optimisation — with the account in your name. Already spending? Give us view access and we will send back exactly where the budget is leaking, free and yours to act on either way.
